Artist's Comments

This is my entry for the Duirwaigh "A Knock at Our Door" contest [link] . Though I might update it before the deadline. :>

About a week and a half in Photoshop CS. I spent a loooot of time on this one and I am pretty pleased with how she turned out. It sort of turned into a "parting the veil" sort of painting but really it was inspired by all the plastic stuff hanging from the ceilings and walls in the art studio a few weeks back. We're almost ready to paint, finally... but the plastic was really pretty and I wanted to paint it. :o OK I'm weird. Of course I am already thinking about the next one so I think I'll be off to sketch...

You may use it on your site, profile, blog or whatever as long as my name and website addy remain in tact. You may not use it on anything you are getting paid for or commercial projects. It is not stock. Do not paint over it, manipulate it or turn it into brushes. If you go about cropping my name and watermark off I'll have no choice but to beat you with a large stick.

Thanks to *faestock for the wonderful reference photo!

THIS IS NOT STOCK, THANK YOU!

Lovely combination and use of color. The blue and red, and their fused form give it a very mysterious look, both shadowy and dreamlike. Her dress seems gypsy like, and I'll presume the lower placement of the dress upon her chest is merely artistic (maybe you should redo that part to make it a bit more realistic).

The pixies and the fairy dust are a nice touch, and I love that little mixture of colors from her left hand. I'm not sure exactly what it is, a mixture of differently colored lights, some fumes or an ambiguous pixie, but it is nice to look at nonetheless.

Good luck with the contest. Hope to see more creations (and some prizes) soon.

P.S. you might need mature filter for the pixies :giggle:
