Finally! This took me a while, but I had a lot of interruptions with MisCon and traveling back and forth from that and my boyfriend's house. Special thanks to my boyfriend for not laughing (too much) when I cursed at that hand for a week.
I love this painting. I tried to include as many symbols of knowledge as I could think of, so there is the apple, the snake, the woman, the owl, in her breastplate thing there is a skeleton key (in the middle where it's pointy) and blue lotus in her hair, for enlightenment. I am really proud of this and especially the hand... that took forever to work out. It's not perfect but it's better than I've done before, I think. Thanks to ~NefaroStock for the barn owl reference. I'm taking a new look at life...
a new vision to see with...
... This is a beautiful, seductive piece and the effort you put into it shows. I love the expression on her face, the sort of half-shy, half-regretful way she's looking at the viewer, even though her hand is probably shooting out some spell to turn him into an owl.
I love the symbols - I have to ask. This woman looks like one of the ancients - what was the inspiration for her? I thought maybe Native American, but...
The symbolism is rife with this one, but it doesn't feel overcluttered or choked with too many images. Each symbol has a right to be there.
... I cannot think of anything else to say but bravo, and thanks for such a lovely piece.
