I could probably rant for an entire afternoon about what made me just give up on the techniques I've been using in the past. I really liked how "The Snake" turned out, and it was the first experiment in this technique. I'd used it here and there in a few other paintings, but not to this extent. I also busted some old lame habits, like using the same color palette over and over, simply by trading out the swatches I had up in Photoshop with some new custom ones, and forcing myself to use those colors. I really like how it progressed. Bad habits die hard, but I think you can "officially" stick a fork in a couple of those, 'cause they's done.
It was nice to actually finish something for once! And to totally love it when it was done. Now, off to do something a bit more complicated. Size: roughly 16"x20" Reference: *faestock Time: I dunno, off and on, for, let's say a week. I could have probably finished it a lot faster, but I had far too many interruptions with all the shows and stuff last week. This is not stock. You may not use it for ANYTHING without asking permission first. Permission for image tubes will not be granted. |

While the figure in the foreground is exceptional, I am first taken by the detail to the background and the way in which you've blended them to give the picture a real space feel- That is, you've given depth and character to this piece.
I am most enjoying the detail to the flowers and the way you've shown the light in the far background.
In the foreground, the flowers, leaves and grass catch my eye next.
The detail you have given the flora and fauna is exquisite. The leaves seem as if they might actually begin to rustle and the grass looks ready to wave at the slightest hint of breeze.
The focus of the piece, the Fae, is gorgeous. The light in her eyes is perhaps the most striking feature, followed by the hair in its light and blown look.
The detail given to the clothing is excellent, as well. The shadows and light played out through the garment is well placed and realistic.
Finally, my whole thought when I look at this is one of wistful expectancy. The way she holds the flower to her breast, the look on her face... Is she parting with a lover? Is she waiting for one?
Or, perhaps, she's entranced. Perhaps being in among nature's beauty has overwhelmed her senses. Perhaps she is overcome with the sight and smell of spring.
Overall, this is an amazing piece, capturing the absolute essence of nature and with it, some human emotion as well.
Well done!
I enjoy the coloring and shading.
Something about the face bothers me though.
In the shaping area about the cheek, jaw area in the foreground.

You suck at life.
Hard.

A real friend can look at you when you have the biggest smile on your face and ask 'whats wrong?'
If You really love something,
it's better to set it free.
When it comes back to You
it'll be Yours forever.
